Berlin: Five people were killed in a shooting incident in northern Germany. The attack took place in the town of Stade, located west of Hamburg.


Police have taken two people into custody in connection with the incident, including a man suspected of carrying out the shooting. Authorities said the possible involvement of the second person is still under investigation.


Some media reports had initially claimed the shooting happened near a youth centre in central Stade, but a police spokesperson later denied that information. Officials have not yet disclosed the exact location of the incident.


Police stated that the area has been secured and monitoring measures have been strengthened while the investigation continues.


Authorities have not yet released details about the motive for the shooting or whether specific individuals were targeted. Emergency services secured the area shortly after the incident, and residents had been advised to avoid the vicinity.


Stade is located about 40 kilometres from Hamburg.
