Fruit Vendor’s Brave Act Helped Reduce Death Toll in Bondi Beach Shooting, Say Australian Police

Sydney: Police in Australia said the impact and death toll of the shooting at Bondi Beach were significantly reduced due to the brave intervention of a working-class hero. A fruit vendor, Ahmed Al-Ahmad, risked his own life and made a decisive move that helped save many lives during the attack.
Videos circulating on social media show Ahmed Al-Ahmad chasing the attacker from behind, overpowering him and seizing the gun. The footage also shows the suspect retreating and walking away after losing the weapon. Police said that had Ahmed Al-Ahmad not taken such action, the death toll could have been much higher.
Meanwhile, police have reported that the shooting at Bondi Beach was carried out by a father and son. The attack occurred during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, and so far 15 people have been killed, with around 50 others injured.
In the wake of the incident, security has been tightened at Jewish centres across India following intelligence reports warning of possible attacks during the Hanukkah celebrations.
