Anti-Immigration Protests Escalate in Belfast After Sudanese National Arrested Over Stabbing Incident

Belfast: Anti-immigration protests have intensified in the Northern Ireland following the arrest of a Sudanese national in connection with a stabbing attack.

Hundreds of masked protesters gathered in the city of Belfast on Tuesday. According to reports by Al Jazeera, demonstrators set fire to a bus and several vehicles. Reports also indicate that petrol bombs were thrown at buildings in the city center.

The stabbing incident occurred on Monday evening in Belfast, leaving a 40-year-old man with serious injuries to his eye. Authorities subsequently charged the suspect with attempted murder and possession of a weapon in a public place.

The unrest comes amid heightened tensions following the spread of false claims that a suspect in the killing of a student in Southampton had committed a racially motivated murder. After videos and images of the violence in central Belfast circulated widely on social media, large-scale protests with racial and nationalist overtones erupted.
