Thiruvananthapuram: Chidambaram’s next directorial venture has been officially titled Balan. The Malayalam film, produced by KVN Productions in association with Thespian Films, went on floors today.

The project marks the coming together of two of Malayalam cinema’s most celebrated talents of 2024, Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram and Aavesham writer Jithu Madhavan, who has penned the script. Both films were among the year’s biggest commercial and critical successes, raising expectations for this collaboration.

The announcement was made by the production house on its official X handle with the message: “Lights, camera… BALAN! KVN Productions & Thespian Films proudly present #Balan — that’s officially gone on floors! Directed by Chidambaram, Written by Jithu Madhavan.”

Alongside the update, a poster was unveiled showing a boy walking away with a stick in hand, surrounded by flowers, hinting at a narrative steeped in intrigue. The makers, however, have kept details regarding the film’s plot and genre under wraps.

The technical crew includes acclaimed composer Sushin Shyam for music, Vivek Harshan as editor, and Shyju Khaled as cinematographer.

KVN Productions, which has a diverse slate ahead, is also backing Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic starring Yash, Tamil superstar Vijay’s 69th feature film, and an upcoming thriller by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan.
