Tovino-Basil Starrer Athiradi to Stream on Sony LIV From June 19

Kochi: The blockbuster Malayalam film Athiradi, which had a hugely successful theatrical run, is set to begin streaming on Sony LIV from June 19. The film will be available in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi.
Set against the backdrop of an engineering college, the story follows Samkutty (Basil Paulose), a student who sets out to revive the college's famous 'Aarohanam' fest, which had been banned years earlier following a tragic incident. The plot takes a sharp turn when Sreekuttan Vellayani (Tovino Thomas) — a local rowdy with a passion for music — enters Samkutty's life.
The film marks the directorial debut of Arun Anirudhan, who wrote the screenplay for Minnal Murali. It blends campus politics, friendship, ego clashes, and heartfelt moments into what the makers describe as a complete entertainer. Basil said he was delighted to bring the film to audiences through Sony LIV, calling it a celebration of college life filled with friendship, festivities, competition, and emotion. Tovino Thomas described Sreekuttan as one of the most enjoyable characters he has played, saying the film's mix of comedy, excitement, and action would give audiences a complete experience.
The film also features Vineeth Sreenivasan and music director Shan Rahman in special appearances. Athiradi is produced by Basil Joseph and Dr Anantu S.
