Teacher Suspended in Palakkad for Giving Alcohol, Abusing Student

Palakkad: The Education Department has suspended a teacher in Malampuzha for giving alcohol to and sexually abusing a 12-year-old student. The action follows a report by the Assistant Educational Officer (AEO).

According to the report, the Sanskrit teacher, Anil of Kollankode, gave alcohol to the student before abusing him. The school authorities reportedly accepted the teacher’s resignation without reporting the matter and only filed a complaint two weeks later.

The AEO has recommended that the school manager be declared unfit for office, citing concealment of the incident despite being aware of it. Complaints have also been filed against the manager by the DYFI and the District Education Officer (DDE).

The school’s headmistress and class teacher have been issued notices and are required to submit explanations within three days.
