Teacher Injured in Knife Attack by Husband at Kerala School

Kottayam: A teacher was injured after being attacked with a knife by her husband inside a government school in Kottayam on Thursday, police said. The injured teacher, Donia, works at the Government LP School in Peroor South. Police have launched a search for her husband, Kochumon, who fled the scene after the incident.
According to police, the couple lived at a house in Moscow Junction, and their relationship had been strained for some time. Kochumon first arrived at the school around 9.30 am asking for his wife, but she was not in the classroom then. He returned around 10.45 am and found her teaching.
Police officials said he asked Donia to step out of the classroom for a conversation. While they were talking in the staff room, an argument broke out, during which Kochumon allegedly took out a knife and attacked her, causing injuries to her neck.
Donia ran to another classroom seeking help, prompting other teachers to intervene. Kochumon escaped before staff members could stop him. She was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital, where doctors said her condition is stable.
Students who witnessed the commotion were shifted to another room, and their parents were informed, police said. A case will be registered based on Donia’s statement.
