Model and Associate Arrested in Kochi With MDMA

Kochi: A model and another individual were arrested in Kakkanad, Kochi, for possessing MDMA. The arrested persons are E. K. Unais (34) of Ettukalil House, Kalamassery, and P. S. Kalyani (22) of Krishna Bhavan, Alappuzha. The Infopark Police, assisted by the DANSAF team, seized 20.22 grams of MDMA from them. Police said Kalyani is also active in film promotion activities.

The arrests were made around 11.20 PM on Thursday. The drugs were recovered from Room No. 303 of Roopam Casa Del Moons and Apartments in Edachira, Kakkanad, where Unais was staying. The operation was carried out based on a tip-off that drugs were being supplied from the apartment.

The MDMA was found stored in three zip-lock polythene packets inside a plastic bag kept in the bedroom cupboard. Police also recovered unused zip-lock covers intended for retail sale and a digital weighing scale.

Both accused were produced before the court and remanded.
