Boyfriend Arrested for Murder of 19-Year-Old Woman in Kerala

Ernakulam: Police on Wednesday confirmed that the death of 19-year-old Chithrapriya, whose body was found near her residence in Malayattoor, was a case of murder. Her boyfriend, identified as Alan, has been arrested after he confessed to the crime, the Kalady Police said.

According to the police, the accused admitted during interrogation that he killed Chithrapriya by striking her on the head with a stone. His arrest has been officially recorded, and further investigation is under way to ascertain the circumstances leading to the murder.

Chithrapriya was found dead on Tuesday in a deserted plot by the roadside near the Kooraapilly–Sebiyoor road, about a kilometre from her home. The body was discovered during a search carried out by employees of the catering unit where her mother is employed.

The family had lodged a missing person complaint with the Kalady police, stating that the young woman had been missing since early Sunday morning. Police said further legal proceedings are in progress, and efforts are ongoing to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the murder.
