CPI(M) 24th Party Congress Begins in Madurai, Sets Stage for Future Struggles

Madurai: The 24th Party Congress of the CPI(M) commenced in Madurai, marking the beginning of discussions and strategies to counter rising neo-fascist tendencies and address new challenges in the country.
The event began with Biman Basu hoisting the party flag at the Budhdhadeb Bhattacharya Gate. The flag, brought from the memorial of the Keezhvenmani martyrs under the leadership of Central Committee member U. Vasuki, was received by Control Commission Chairman A.K. Padmanabhan at 8 a.m. before being raised by Basu.
The delegate session officially began at 10:30 a.m. at the Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Memorial Hall in Nagar, with Polit Bureau Co-Coordinator Prakash Karat inaugurating the proceedings. Manik Sarkar chaired the session, which saw the participation of CPI General Secretary D. Raja and representatives from various left parties. Over 800 delegates, including 80 observers, are attending the congress.
